Setting
I
picture a hot and a dry desert. Nothing
in sight, except for what looks like a city far off in the distance. I feel the wind blowing the hot sand all over
the “Gladers” bodies. The little bits of
sand sting as they hit the venerable bodies.
The skin turns red in a matter of seconds. They need to cover their bodies with the
sheets they brought to hold their food. All of their toughs are as dry as the
air. They need to preserve their water
for when they need it most. A terrible
storm breaks out while the “Gladers” are running to the city. Some “Gladers” get struck by lightning. Only about a dozen make it into a ruined building. They wake up coughing, not know what is going
on, or who made it alive. They go
outside to take a look, and all they see is what looks like a deserted
city. It looks like it has been this way
for years. Plants are everywhere growing
on buildings, and inside buildings. The “Gladers”
find a tunnel that is as dark as a darks night’s cloak. All Thomas and Brenda can do is to feel their
way along the gloomy, chilly, long wall to find their way out. What do you think the safe haven looks like?
